Some 90's nostalgia coming your way with the digital re-release of some of the best Star Wars games ever -- X-Wing and its sequel, TIE Fighter.

Good Old Games (GOG) announced that the new special edition releases will run on modern PC's but will preserve the 90's look of the classic games that old-school gamers came to love. They will also include the games' expansion packs and have improved sound and graphics. Both titles will be available for just $10.

The DOS platform space flight simulation games were giants when they were first released in 1993 and 1994 respectively. They are being re-released as part of the partnership between LucasArts (now owned by Disney) and GOG.

According to reports, at least thirty other titles that are part of the deal will also be getting the digital download treatment, including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic; The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition; Sam & Max Hit the Road; and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

The official announcement was supposed to be made on Oct. 28, however, the beans were spilled a bit too early on the GOG Forum where members were able to figure out and identify the LucasArts games to be released - forcing the company to push forward the official announcement -- and then hiding the product pages again just a few hours later.

The pages in the forum with the preempted reveals have also been hidden.

Links to the games on the site now lead to a 404 - File not Found redirect.

However, according to reports, the official countdown to the release of the games continues and should be back online and available again as scheduled on the 28th of October.

Gamers have been waiting decades for this re-release with some hailing X-wing and TIE-Fighter as the best space combat games to be released ever.
