Samsung reportedly intends to launch Bixby, its AI-powered personal assistant, along with the Galaxy S8 smartphone which may debut at the MWC 2017.

Now rumors suggest that Bixby is not the only new thing that Samsung has on the cards. The company will apparently overhaul its S Health app and not get rid of S apps as previously speculated.

This information comes courtesy of a report from SamMobile which cites sources who have shared that one of the S apps — the S Health app — will receive a complete makeover.

"According to the information we've received, Samsung is working with partners such as WebMD and Amwell to add deep integration of their services into the S Health app," notes the publication.

Previous reports have alleged that Bixby will be integrated deeply into the Galaxy S8's software and apps. This led to suppositions that the company could completely drop the S app.

What The Revamped S Health App Can Do

The overhauled S Health app will enable users to search for drugs, diseases and symptoms thanks to its integration with WebMD. However, its capabilities will extend far beyond these searches. The S Health app will also be able to schedule a visit to a doctor online. Users of the app will be able to make video appointments with certified doctors all the time.

S Health app users will also be able to generate a list of pharmacies that are located in the vicinity.

The updated S Health app will reportedly be able to store patient data, which includes their symptoms, prescriptions, as well as snapshots of test record.

The app also integrates several convenient payment options. Users will be able to link their credit card or debit card to the app to make any payments. The patient can also select a doctor on the basis of their rating. The doctors will be rated on the basis of a patient's preference.

An option that mentions if a patient has medical insurance will also be available. During medical emergencies, users of the S Health app will be able to dial 911.

Will Samsung Launch The S Health App With The Galaxy S8?

Whether Samsung decides to get rid of its S apps or not depends on the strategy the company chooses to implement going forward.

The company has been upgrading its S Health service to compete with services like Apple Health and Google Fit.

Many of the S Health features are expected to be launched in the United States. Whether the overhauled S Health app will make an appearance with the Galaxy S8 remains to be seen.
