Police arrested suspects in the Los Angeles Halloween hit-and-run case that resulted in the death of three teenage girls who were trick-or-treating in the suburb.

On Friday, Oct. 31, twins Lexandra Perez and Lexia Perez along with friend Andrea Gonzalez were hit by a SUV driver. The three girls were crossing the road at Fairhaven Avenue when the incident occurred. The 13-year olds were gearing up to go trick-or-treating on Halloween when the tragedy happened.

According to a witness, the three girls were wearing dark costumes with black leggings. The fatal accident took place at 6:45 PM as the teenagers were on a crosswalk near an elementary school in the area.

Two of the girls were declared dead on the spot, whereas the third passed away as paramedics arrived to rush her away to a nearby hospital.

On Sunday, Nov. 2, Santa Ana police divulged that they had made multiple arrests in relation to the incident in the morning. However, the cops did not disclose any other details prior to the press conference, which has been scheduled for Monday, Nov. 3.

The cops, however, found a black Honda SUV 800 yards away from where the accident occurred near a shopping center. The front of the car was damaged badly per the authorities.

Investigators have traced the damaged SUV to the registered address. However, Anthony Bertagna, spokesperson for Santa Ana police, revealed that the owner has moved.

"At this point, we don't know where the registered owner lives," said Bertagna.

The investigators are researching video surveillance footage from property owners in the area. They are also interviewing witnesses for leads.

Sharon Stewart, a barber shop owner has disclosed that she was eating when she heard clamor that sounded "like a terrible crash." She heard screaming and as she turned, saw a vehicle leaving and people screaming. Stewart followed the vehicle and spotted a young lad run from the accident scene, yelling at who she believed was his comrade.

The detectives have gathered proof from the damaged SUV, such as DNA samples and fingerprints.
