In what is sure to be exciting news for gaming fans all over the world, Rockstar Games has announced that the Red Dead Redemption 2 will release on PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One consoles in fall 2017.

Rockstar had initially announced the game on Oct. 18, 2016.

What Is Red Dead Redemption?

Red Dead Redemption is a third-person open-world action-adventure video game. The game, which is set in 1911 will be based on the wane of the American Frontier. The virtual world is based on the western part of North America and Mexico. Alternately, the player could travel either by foot or on horseback.

The gameplay features extensive combat and gunfights. The protagonist has to follow the main story line and complete it. Apart from that, the player can also participate in random events happening in the virtual space.

Why Oct. 20?

Even though the trailer of the game did not mention any dates, a recent post on GameSeek has explicitly mentioned the release date of the game to be Oct. 20.

This date ties up to Rockstar's announcement that the game would launch in fall 2017. A UK-based retailer Littlewoods, however, has mentioned the release date as Oct. 2, 2017.

Rockstar anyways is prone to delaying its games. Red Dead Redemption had to be pushed back by more than a month to further polish and perfect it.

Hideo Kojima, the creator of Metal Gear Solid, is extremely excited about the launch of this game. He has already mentioned that Red Dead Redemption is a game he is quite keen on playing.

What Are The Speculations?

Reports suggest that the storyline of the game will be similar to that of Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) and there will be three playable characters introduced in the game, which is Michael, Trevor and Franklin. The world will be an open environment to be explored through the characters and the ending will again be a choice-based affair.

This means that just like GTA 5, the ending will differ on the basis of the choice the player makes.

"An epic tale of life in America's unforgiving heartland, the game's vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience," notes the official announcement on Rockstar Games' website.

The trailer has created quite a stir in the gaming community and YouTubers are eagerly awaiting the arrival of this game. Clearly, Rockstar Games aims to make Red Dead Redemption 2 just as successful as its predecessor.
