If the latest rumors are to be believed, then there is a high probability that the mysterious Nokia 5 smartphone could debut at the MWC 2017.

The latest leak shared on Weibo offers a glimpse into the rumored specs of the alleged device.

"Today a new leak suggests that one of the devices that may be launched at Mobile World Congress MWC 2017 event in Barcelona is Nokia 5 which is basically an entry-level budget smartphone," notes Android Pure.

The revelations gained momentum when reports suggested that the device has also been spotted on the benchmarking website Geekbench under the moniker "Nokia Heart".

The Nokia 5, or the Nokia Heart, is believed to be a cheaper variant of the Nokia 6.

Rumored Specs And Features

As previously reported by Tech Times, the smartphone will come with a 5.2-inch 720 HD display. Under the hood, it will house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430, clocked at 1.4 GHz. The smartphone may also have 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. It is rumored that the Nokia 5 handset will run the latest Android Nougat 7.0 operating system, just like the Nokia 6.

Dubbed Nokia Heart on Geekbench, the entry-level budget smartphone sporting the Nokia brand name may include a 12MP rear-facing camera. It will also house a 7MP front-facing camera. Both the cameras will support full HD video recording with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution.

Nokia Plans For The Future

Nokia, in partnership with HMD Global, is looking to claw its way back to the smartphone market with the newly-launched Nokia 6 that has been released in China. The device incidentally got sold out at in a record one minute in a flash sale held in China.

Nokia 5 or Nokia Heart could well be a cheaper version of Nokia 6, which could aid HMD Global and Nokia's strategy of providing affordable smartphones to customers looking for cheaper options.

It is believed that MWC 2017 will be where another Nokia handset — the P1 — will make its debut. The high-end smartphone will allegedly be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, boast 6 GB of RAM and a 3,500 mAh battery. The handset may also feature Quick Charge technology. It could also along have a fingerprint scanner located on the device's right.

Nokia has an event scheduled at the MWC 2017 on Feb. 26 and it remains to be seen if the Nokia 5 will be introduced at the trade show.
