Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus in late March. New images of the Galaxy S8 have just leaked and show the handset powered on, new on-screen buttons, and always-on display.

After Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 debacle, which turned into a total recall of the phablet, the company is hedging its bets with its next-generation Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus to make up for lost revenue and regain consumer trust in the company.

While the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will sit out an unveiling at Mobile World Congress as the end of February, Samsung is widely expected to announce an exact launch date for the new smartphones at the trade show. Renders of the Galaxy S8 leaked in late January, providing an up-close look at the smartphone's design.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Images Leak

Now, new images of the Samsung Galaxy S8 have leaked and provide a look at the smartphone's bezel-less display powered on, which shows the handset's edge to edge curved display. It's the first time we've seen the smartphone powered on and it shows off the running Apps Edge interface, and the new on-screen buttons that will replace the physical home button and capacitive keys that have been a staple of the company's Galaxy S handsets. There are also cutouts at the top of the screen for the front-facing camera, iris scanner, and other sensors.

Galaxy S8 Always-On Display

Another image shows the Samsung Galaxy S8's always-on display, which allows users to see the time, date, and notifications without having to wake the smartphone.

Galaxy S8 Or Galaxy S8 Plus?

It's unclear if the smartphone in the leaked images is the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus, as both handsets are expected to share virtually the same design, except the Galaxy S8 will rock a 5.8-inch Quad HD display and the Galaxy S8 Plus will supposedly feature a larger 6.2-inch screen. A recent report claimed that Samsung is planning to use a 3,000 mAh battery in the Galaxy S8, while the S8 Plus will pack in a large 3,500 mAh to keep the device running.

While the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are expected to officially be launched on March 29, the smartphones are supposedly going to go on sale almost a month after they officially launch and most reports suggest the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will see a worldwide release on April 21.

As always, we'll keep our eyes and ears open for any new Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus details as they become available. Are you planning to buy a Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus? Please share with us and our readers in the comments below.
