Halo 5: Guardians beta is causing a storm, but mainly in a good way despite the small number of diehard fans who are complaining about some of the new changes, or all of them in some instances.

From what we have seen so far, we can now analyze certain aspects of the game. Today, we are going to focus on the best new gameplay features 343 Industries has added to make it more modern and to fit in the eSports arena.

In our eyes, these are the new gameplay mechanics that are going to bring back Halo from near death and back into the land of the ever living. These features might actually force gamers to love Halo all over again, even the ones who are complaining at this point.

Ground Pound

Seeing the Ground Pound ability in action will make every Halo fan want to go around the map smashing everyone in sight. It's a type of melee attack that can kill an opponent in a single move, but only if the player is accurate enough. We believe that only the best players will use Ground Pound on a regular basis as it appears difficult to pull off.

Sprint

Sprinting in a Halo game? What gives?

While some players are busy complaining that sprinting makes Halo feel like other first person shooters, we fail to see this as the case. Sprinting in Halo is different, as it is linked directly to the shield on the armor. The moment the player begins to sprint, the shield's energy drains, making it easier for enemy players to get a kill.

We like this implementation a lot better when compared to how it is done in other games.

Thruster Pack

OK, we admit that it comes off similar to the likes of TitanFall and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. However, it doesn't matter because it looks smooth and gorgeous in action. Players who want to make a quick escape, if under fire from several directions, can use this gameplay mechanic to dash swiftly into a corner then use Sprint to exit the area.

We definitely see many players combining both mechanics to avoid enemies, or to gain a vantage point.

These new additions to Halo 5 are the very things that we believe will shape the game's future. Now, all is left is for 343 Industries to show off some vehicular combat, and we'll be happy.
