You may recall Tony Hawk and Christopher Lloyd, of Back to the Future fame, riding around on a hoverboard called HUVr earlier this year. That video turned out to be totally fake, a cruel joke by folks over at Funny or Die.

Lloyd, Hawk and Funny or Die apologized for destroying the dreams of thousands who thought hoverboards had finally moved from science fiction to science fact. Hawk later said, when he accepted the part in the Funny or Die spoof, he thought it would be obvious to people HUVr was fake.

It seemed too good to be true at the time, but at the end of the day all people want is an actual, real-life hoverboard. Is that so much to ask? Not anymore, as Kickstarter project Hendo Hoverboards has made the skateboards of the future a reality. The project has currently raised almost double its Kickstarter goal of $250,000 with 27 days left to go, and who better to test out the hoverboard than pro skater Tony Hawk?

That's exactly what this video is. Tony Hawk, riding a hoverboard. For real this time.

"This is real folks!" he says at the start of the video. "This is the real hoverboard right here, so forget everything you know. This is it."

It's not too impressive, but hey, it's a real hoverboard! You can't complain too much. Hawk takes the board for a spin before trying out the Hendo Hoverboard on a small halfpipe. At the very least, it looks like a lot of fun as he spins about rapidly, falling off more than a few times with a smile on his face. The future is now.
