If you find it cumbersome to share Dropbox folders on the go, then here's some good news for you - Dropbox has rolled out an update to its Android app that makes sharing much easier for mobile users.

With the latest Dropbox update, Android users no longer have to wait until they're using a desktop before they can share folders with other users. The updated Dropbox for Android now makes it possible to share folders and manage relevant permissions straight from the app.

Dropbox on Tuesday announced the special mobile sharing feature of its newly updated Android app. The update makes available to mobile users a feature that Dropbox already offers for some time now, folder sharing. The new version of the app allows users to share folders using their Android device.

"Dropbox shared folders are great for working with others as though you're on a single computer. Today, we're making things even easier by letting you share folders on the go-straight from our Android app," Dropbox said in its blog post.

In the older version of the app, users would have to go to Dropbox's web interface or use a desktop file manager extension to share folders. With the latest update, users can now conveniently share a new or an existing folder and invite other users to those shared folder using their Android device. Users can also easily change the settings or curate the list of collaborators using the Shared folder settings.

To share a folder using the Android app, users need only create a new folder or choose an existing one and tap "share" to send a link to the folder or invite other users to work on the same content. The new process is a far cry to the lengthy and burdensome process of having to use a desktop to share important and urgent files.

Android users can now get the latest Dropbox app from the Google Play store. iOS users, on the other hand, will have to wait until next year for the update to hit App Store. "iOS users, hang tight-mobile sharing will come your way early next year," says Dropbox.
