HMD Global, which owns the rights to Nokia, has unveiled some more details regarding the upcoming Nokia 6 smartphone.

The Nokia 6 is a mid-range smartphone that will retail for $229 when it releases in July. It doesn't have the specs or features of the Gaxaly S8 or iPhone 7, but it features stock Android and is more affordable than either of those phones.

Nokia 6 Specs And Features

The Nokia 6 will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 430 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage though SD card support can increase that to 128GB. Overall, the specs aren't the best in the world and those looking to use their phone for serious gaming or other intensive use may find the RAM and processor to be limiting factors.

In terms of media use, the internal storage is a bit low for those who plan to download a lot of music or videos. Of course, the SD card support will go a long way towards alleviating this problem. The phone's display features a 5.5-inch HD display. It isn't as nice as some S8's display; however, considering the price of the Nokia 6, the screen is just fine.

The software is Android 7.0 and will, thankfully, be stock Android. While some customized versions of Android, such as OnePlus' Oxygen OS, have been well-received, they are too often an excuse to preload phones with bloatware that users neither need nor want. Sadly, very few phones offer pure stock Android with Google's Pixel being one of the few exceptions. It should be noted that simply because the phone runs stock Android does not mean it will receive updates as fast as the Pixel.

Design-wise, the phone's display and bezels look fairly standard, but its body is made from a single piece of aluminum which does make it look nicer than a lot of other phones in this price range. Beyond that, Nokia says that the aluminum frame will make the phone more durable, but, personally, we would still recommend using a case.

Nokia 6 Arrival

The Nokia 6 will arrive in July and will be available through Amazon. Nokia has not announced any other retailers. On paper, the Nokia 6 appears to be a worthy device for the budget-conscious consumer. It's not as nice as any of the flagship devices, but it is a quarter of the price and should function well enough for a lot of people.
