The iPhone X is the first iPhone that Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak won't be grabbing on "day one," breaking a tradition of sorts.

Why? Because he's sticking with his iPhone 8, which he says is the same as the iPhone 7, which he then says is the same as the iPhone 6.

The iPhone X

On Nov. 3, the iPhone X will start hitting the shelves, but according to Wozniak, he won't be at an Apple store standing in line to get one. He says his wife will buy one, though, so he'll still get a good look at the new flagship.

"For some reason, the iPhone X is going to be the first iPhone I didn't — on day one — upgrade to. But my wife will, so I'll be close enough to see it," he says at the Money 20/20 conference held in Las Vegas (via CNBC).

Apple did boast that the iPhone X is the "future of the smartphone" in a press release, but apparently, that's not enough to convince Wozniak in getting one — that includes the new all-screen display, Face ID, Animoji, and the powerful A11 Bionic chip, which lets the handset keep up with the MacBook Pro in terms of performance.

The iPhone 8

It's no mystery that the iPhone 8 hasn't been selling that well since Apple did go with an odd release pattern this time around, launching the handset in question first and the iPhone X later.

Still, Wozniak is among those who bought the iPhone 8, but he says that for him, it's just the same as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 6, despite it being two generations ahead.

"I'd rather wait and watch that one. I'm happy with my iPhone 8 — which is the same as the iPhone 7, which is the same as the iPhone 6, to me."

Arguably, many will agree with him on this, but needless to say, there have been plenty of noteworthy upgrades from the iPhone 6 to the iPhone 8, including but not limited to an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.

Of course, there's also the matter of the headphone jack's removal, but that's another whole different story.

To sum things up, Wozniak hasn't set his eye on the iPhone X, which will mark the first time he won't get the latest iPhone on launch day. More interestingly, he thinks the iPhone 8 is just like the iPhone 7, which he believes is like the iPhone 6.
