Products get discontinued all the time. It's just a part of business: if something isn't worth producing, chances are, it's not going to see the light of day for much longer. Of course, there are the examples where the product is discontinued for seemingly no discernible reason other than those in charge wishing to be cruel to their customers.

Case in point: French Toast Crunch. For nearly a decade, one of the greatest breakfast cereals in the entire world has been absent from store shelves. All the way back in 2006, the cereal was quietly discontinued by General Mills, and slowly faded from consumers' collective memories.

For most products, discontinuation would mean the end...but not for French Toast Crunch. In something of a holiday miracle, General Mills has just revealed via press release that the cereal is indeed entering production again.

Waylon Good, the General Mills marketing director, said that "We have been overwhelmed by the consumer conversations, requests and passion for the cereal to come back. We value our fans and are so excited to be able to bring it back for them."

According to the press release, French Toast Crunch is available now at some select stores, while nationwide distribution is set to begin sometime early next year. With any luck, consumers could be snacking on French Toast Crunch before the Christmas decorations get taken down.

It's certainly strange to feel nostalgic over a box of cereal, but any '90s kid should know just how good that cereal - and its commercials - were:

Welcome back, old friend. We have a lot of catching up to do.
