A brand new Dell XPS 13 just made its debut ahead of CES 2018, marking the most notable upgrade the laptop has received in a while.

Dell had just updated its XPS 13 ultraportable a couple of months ago, but a 2018 overhaul is nonetheless in store. It also brings impressive changes such as 8th-generation Intel processors, an even slimmer frame, a new white-and-gold option, and more.

Meet The Latest Dell XPS 13

The newest Dell XPS 13 comes in the traditional black and silver finish, but the new model with white and rose gold is new. Dell also reduced the size and weight even further, coming up with an even thinner and lighter laptop without compromising the internal architecture.

"Besides its head-turning exterior, the all-new XPS 13 is better by every measure. Now, even more portable as the smallest 13-inch laptop on the planet, its stunning InfinityEdge display fits this 13-inch laptop in an 11-inch frame," boasts Dell. "It's a full 30 percent (3.4mm) thinner as well as lighter, starting at just 2.7 pounds, making the XPS 13 the ultimate in mobility and durability."

The new Dell XPS 13 will come with various options to suit several needs, preferences, and budgets. Display options will include a full HD non-touch model or a 4K touch display.

The laptop also comes with 8th-generation Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processing options, up to 1 TB PCIe SSD, and Intel UHD Graphics 620.

It also has a 52WHr battery that should last for up to 19 hours on a single charge, and support for up to 16 GB of RAM.

New Dell XPS 13 Thermal Management

For such a thin and light laptop, it's also important to deliver a solid thermal solution to ensure that it doesn't overheat. With this in mind, Dell equipped the new XPS 13 with two fans, two heat pipes, a new shield between the keyboard and the heat spreader, and GORE Thermal Insulation.

Most laptops get pretty warm with heavy use, but the latest Dell XPS 13 should have no problem handling things without overheating.

Dell XPS 13 With Windows Hello

The new Dell XPS 13 also comes with a fingerprint sensor compatible with Windows Hello, embedded right into the power button. This fingerprint reader is not a default feature, however, it's an optional feature that users can get if they want an extra layer of security.

2018 Dell XPS 13 Pricing And Availability

The Dell XPS 13 runs Windows 10 and is available starting at $999, with prices going up based on configuration and features. A developer version running Ubuntu is also available at a $949 starting price.

The laptop will be at CES 2018, along with other new Dell products.
