There seems to be a trend forming here.

Back in November, a PayPal promotion accidentally revealed the dates of Steam's massive Fall Sale - dates that are normally kept secret until the eve of the sale's debut. It was unprecedented, especially since Valve is usually so good about keeping its secrets...well, secret.

That being said, the Fall Sale isn't anywhere near as large as Steam's Summer or Holiday Sales. Of course, with Christmas fast approaching, anticipation for the absolutely massive Holiday Sale is growing quickly, and gamers are wondering just when they can get their hands on the massive discounts that come with it. At this point, Valve has yet to reveal anything...but PayPal certainly has.

According to a post on Reddit, Japanese PayPal subscribers were sent a message that contained yet another early promotion for an upcoming Steam Sale:

Aside from the fact that it's in Japanese, the PayPal promotion looks nearly identical to the one members received back in November. It looks legitimate enough, and the timing does make a lot of sense: the sale is supposedly set to go live on Dec. 18, just one week before Christmas.

This marks the second time in a row that PayPal has inadvertently spoiled an upcoming Steam sale. One has to wonder if the payment service has made an agreement with Valve to promote the events ahead of schedule, but all things considered, it's highly unlikely.

While it may spoil some of the fun for Valve, it's all good news for gamers: the Steam Holiday Sale is easily the largest event of its kind across the entire industry. It's a sale in which 80% discounts are the norm, and it's widely known for the absolute decimation of wallets around the world. To put it lightly, there's nothing like it.

Thankfully, there's only a week left before everything goes down, at least according to this leak.
