Are you looking to gift yourself a Windows 8 laptop to celebrate the New Year? It's going to be tough making a decision, thanks to the plethora of Windows 8-based laptops out in the wild, but we've sieved through the lot and only 3 has made the cut in terms of design, portability, price and performance. Let's check them out.

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro:

This is an excellent ultrabook that also transforms into a tablet. This new model comes packed with an impressive 13.3-inch 3,200x1,800-pixel-resolution display, and an Intel 4th gen i3 processor. Furthermore, there's a decent 4GB of RAM along with 128GB SSD storage. Battery life is not the best though, which is disappointing since the 4th generation Intel processor should have allowed computer makers to get rid of the poor battery life problem.

Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus:

Samsung has done it again, as the new ATIV Book 9 Plus is arguably the best Windows 8 laptop available today. The device comes with a 13.3-inch 3.200x1,800 resolution display with touch capabilities. However, unlike the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro, the Samsung device does not transform into a tablet. So if you're that type of person who needs a hybrid device, the ATIV Book 9 Plus is not for you. For everyone else, it is almost the perfect laptop. Furthermore, this laptop comes with a great battery life, which is what we expect from every consumer laptop these days.

Lenovo G505:

If you're unable to afford the Windows 8 laptops above, maybe the Lenovo G505 is right up your alley. It's cheap, priced at sub-$400, if not the cheapest Windows 8 tablet available right now. Want to surf Facebook and Twitter? How about watching videos on YouTube or playing the occasional game? The G505 might just be the only laptop you need. You won't find a super fast 4th generation processor in here, but instead an AMD E1-2100 1.0 GHz Processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 15.6-inch display with a screen resolution that is less than HD. Did we mention it's cheap? Yes, it is.
