Before you go out and propose to your girlfriend with an elaborate, memorable, magical proposal that she will never forget, make sure you've got all your bases covered. Ring? Check! Camera to capture the special moment when she says yes? Check! Secure the crane? Hmmm, not quite.

One Dutchman in Usselstein, central Netherlands, neglected that crucial detail in his would-be romantic proposal plan and ended up smashing the crane into his girlfriend's neighbor's roof - Twice!

According to reports, the man wanted to propose to his girlfriend on Saturday morning by singing to her outside her bedroom window while descending from the ill-fated crane. Unfortunately, because the crane he rented was not secured properly to the ground, it crashed into the neighbor's roof.

The man and his girlfriend managed to jump out of harm's way just in time before the crane completely crashed.

However, neighbors in the six surrounding apartments had to be evacuated by emergency services while a larger crane was brought to the scene to help clean up the botched proposal.

Unfortunately, as the larger crane was at work trying to right the situation, the first crane tilted and fell through the roof again, causing more holes to be made.

The neighbors of the couple whose apartment roof the crane crashed through were said to be "in shock" over the incident where, fortunately, no one was injured.

It remains to be determined if the apartment will need to be demolished after the damage caused by the crane is assessed.

Despite the less-than-ideal proposal plan, the man still had a happy ending because his girlfriend said yes to his marriage proposal.

The couple is currently celebrating with a vacation in Paris, which was already previously planned and authorities told them there was no reason to cancel their holiday.
