We have long wondered who would play the part of Amanda Waller in the upcoming 2016 Suicide Squad movie. Rumors claim it could be Oprah Winfrey, but if the latest reports are true, then it would appear Viola Davis has nabbed the role.

For those who have no idea who Viola Davis is, she was one of the main cast in Prisoners, a movie released in 2013, which includes Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal as co-stars. It was a great film, and she was splendid in it.

At the moment, the reports should be considered as rumors until Warner Bros. or director David Ayer comes out with something substantial. Furthermore, we have to point out that the rumor began at Latino Review, a publication that is notorious for releasing incorrect information. Then again, there are times when Latino Review gets it right, and we are hoping this is one of those rare times.

If the rumor is on point, we would love to know how Warner Bros. plans on working around Davis' new TV show, How to Get Away With Murder. It's one of the hottest shows on TV right now, and we can see why the studio would want her to be a central aspect of the Suicide Squad movie. The only problem we have with this alleged casting is that Davis doesn't have a few extra pounds on her frame, which means DC could be going for the current New 52 character with a super-model look.

The main upside here is that Viola Davis is not a young woman, so that's great for the portrayal of the Amanda Waller fans want to see.

Should Davis be officially announced as Waller, then she will join the likes of Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg, Jared Leto as the Joker, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang.

Rumors claim that Jessie Eisenberg might reprise his role as Lex Luthor in the film after appearing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Suicide Squad is scheduled to be begin filming in 2015, and set for release in August, 2016.
