After being involved in a six-car crash, one British man found himself in a coma for six days. When Rory Curtis woke up he was a changed man.

Or, at least according to his mind, an entirely different man -- Matthew McConaughey to be exact.

"In my head I thought I was Matthew McConaughey," Curtis tells Metro. "When I went to the toilet I went to look in the mirror and I was shocked because I didn't look like him, I didn't know what I was looking at."

But alas, it wasn't to be. McConaughey had not in fact swapped minds with Curtis (though that might make an excellent plot point in Interstellar 2).

"Then slowly over time it eventually clicked and I thought 'he is an actor, what am I on about?'" Curtis says. "But at times I was in hospital thinking I can't wait to get out of here and back to filming movies."

In addition to believing himself to be the Oscar winning Texan actor, Curtis also found he was able to speak near perfect French, something McConaughey (to our knowledge) cannot do.

"I didn't even do French at GCSE so haven't studied it since Year 9 - then all of a sudden I'm fluent in it," Curtis says. "I can't explain how it happened. It's incredible really. I don't remember coming round but my family said one of the nurses was from Africa and spoke French and I was having conversations with her."

His ability to speak French, along with his McConaughey alter ego, vanished as Curtis began to recover, which is probably a good thing. A French speaking McConaughey with his Southern charm might be too much for the world to handle.
