"Valheim" is now available via Steam Early Access and gamers are enjoying the exploration and survival title that focuses on Viking lore, with a Sea Serpent being a notorious enemy that should be defeated and looted. The massive creature's loot, especially the scales, should not be put to waste as it can be used for crafting the Serpent Shield.
The Viking survival game that is centered for the PC platform, "Valheim," has been released last February 2, and is immediately gathering a cult following that makes it one of the most successful releases of the year. The game is still at early access and is still under development from its creators, but the Steam ratings of it already give it a perfect ten out of ten scores.
The game was created and under the development of Iron Gate AB studio, which is still taking its time in adding different elements and content for the PC-only survival game.
'Valheim:' How to Defeat the Sea Serpent
According to Attack of the Fanboy, "Valheim" poses a tricky way to defeat the Sea Serpent, as taking it head-on in its territory in the massive body of water would overpower users and end up getting eaten or sunk. However, there is a specific way to defeat the beast and that is to use an Abyssal Harpoon to control and bring it to land.
Secure an Abyssal Harpoon
The most important weapon to defeat the Sea Serpent is the Abyssal Harpoon which can impale the beast and drag it with the user to land. It is essential to slay the serpent on land, to gather its loot, and collect everything that is needed from it.
The Abyssal Harpoon Requires:
- Leather Scraps (3)
- Fine wood (8)
- Chitin (30)
Chitin can be harvested via abyssal barnacles which can only be found in Krakens. The Krakens are small islands that are not harmful, and users should be out in the ocean to spot them. Abyssal barnacles are holes that pop out of the Kraken's surface.
Go back to the workbench, extract the Chitin, and craft the Abyssal Harpoon.
'Valheim:' Loot Sea Serpent Scales for Shield
According to Reddit via r/Valheim and u/u/ClassasaurusRex, Serpent Scales should not be wasted and with this, users would need to bring the Sea Serpent to land before slaying it. To do this, users would have at least one Abyssal Harpoon at one's disposal and head out to sea with their ship.
Spot a Sea Serpent and prepare to strike it with the Abyssal Harpoon. Users would miss and hit, depending on their accuracy and positioning. The harpoon can be obtained despite missing the target.
Upon hitting the Sea Serpent, quickly sail the ship back to land and pull the Sea Serpent to the beach. Here, users can kill the beast with any weapon. After that, loot the Sea Serpent meat and its scales, which can then be used for the Serpent Shield, a robust and high-rated shield.
