Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound has been unveiled by the company and would soon join smartphone production as a component that would upgrade and elevate the audio listening experience to a new level with its features. The chip would complement smartphones in delivering the best audio quality there is, along with a low latency listening experience that brings better sync to display.

The company has been the top smartphone ARM-based chip developer that has integrated almost all components of modern cellphones, particularly with its Snapdragon lineup that focuses on CPU technology. However, that is not what Qualcomm is all about, and a range of other products have been brought by the company that complements the use of handheld smart devices.

As much as graphics and video are a massive thing in smartphones, an overlooked factor of audio has been ignored for the smartphone's development but has since been developed in the background for all needs. Moreover, audio components are not a massive deal for the majority compared to the display and performance of the device but are an equal factor to it.

Qualcomm recently unveiled its Snapdragon Sound chipset that aims to bring the best possible audio for smartphones and devices, including quality, latency, and overall functions from the chipmaker. The popular aptX audio chip is also from Qualcomm, and the company has integrated this with the Snapdragon Sound to deliver a better performing audio factor.

Moreover, it does not skimp over various factors including Bluetooth and wireless technology, as it still aims to provide low latency and high-quality audio despite using TWS earphones or headsets when connecting to the device. The company promises that the Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound would bring all of these for the device, to deliver performance on sound.

Its 24-bit Word Depth and 96kHz sampling frequencies are its initial offers to the public, but it also brings up to 384kHz 32-bit PCM and DSD with ultra-low THD+N for audiophiles that want the best possible sound quality. On the other hand, it can also output 7.3W of power when paired with an external amplifier to boost its performance and sound delivery.

Some devices and smartphones already have the next-level sound quality and it is with the Dolby Atmos chip which is fitted on devices like iPhone 11 Pro, Xiaomi Mi Note 10, Samsung Galaxy S21, and LG's V series. The feature was already on par with Qualcomm's aptX Sound chips, and are neck-on-neck against each other.

The Snapdragon Sound remains untested from the company, as no smartphones have yet debuted with the new audio chipset, but Qualcomm's aptX has been in close competition with the Dolby Atmos. The latter, Dolby Atmos, has been one of the most trusted sound technology in the world, as its surround sound features are used in films and television series.
