Sridhar Ramaswamy has stated that he is on the verge of creating "Neeva," an ad-free search engine that would be purely based on a subscription feature to better optimize a web browser search. Prior to this, Ramaswamy was a top executive in Google, particularly in the Google Ads division, before parting ways with said company.

The CEO of Neeva has learned a lot from Google, including that the ups and downs of the company's search engine, which is currently the largest and most used browser in the world. Despite the many competitors and years in the industry, Google remains king of internet search but mainly relies on search ads for generating funds and revenue.

While that method is effective and useful because of its free feature and powerful process in technology, Google's search ads are said to be a thing of the past, especially as people are willing to pay and get premium. This is what Neeva wants and aims to change, which has now been pooling up its resources to debut the world's first subscription-based search engine.

"Who exactly is Sridhar Ramaswamy?" is a question recently commonly asked due to Neeva's prominence when it was announced to be a venture the former Google executive will be taking on. Apart from being the CEO of the "next-generation" search engine and former Google Search Ads boss, there is a lot more to the tech mogul.

Ramaswamy has had a colorful career on his record, but it is not yet near conclussion or ending, as the now CEO will aim to debut the search engine of the next-generation.

The engineering graduate from India Institute of Technology (IIT Madras) also has a PhD from one of the US's most prominent Ivy League school, Brown University.

Career Track

The data operator and engineer has had tie-ins with companies including Bell Labs, Bell Communications Research, E.piphany, and Lucent Technologies. All of these were prior to his role in Google, which he have stayed for a long span of his career, finally achieiving a Senior Vice President (SVP) role in the Ads & Commerce division.

In 2018, Ramaswamy joined Greylock as a venture partner, focusing on featuring new startups in the world of technology, aiming to debut new products and helping it gain backing from the industry.

In the venture capital firm, Ramaswamy has also brought his brainchild of "Neeva" which aims to bring the new breed of search engine.

As previously stated by Ramaswamy, Neeva and subscription search engines are the future, as it would focus more on bringing people what they asked for, without all the ads to join.

The need for subscription is important, especially as it aims to generate revenue from other sources and stop a search engine's reliance to advertisements, unlike Google.
