Instagram Privacy 2022: Limiting Who Can Contact You
According to The Wired's latest report, Instagram DMs are essential as more individuals prefer staying at home. But, if your DM access is too much, then strangers can also contact you.

This situation goes with comments and likes as well. Now, here are some methods you can try to limit the IG users who can contact you:
- When restricting DMs, IG users, you are not connected with will be put on the Requests tab. You can either block or accept the direct message. Of course, if you don't know the individual and the message is suspicious, the best thing you can do is block them.
- If the account of an Instagram user contacting you is quite suspicious, you can easily block them. To do this, visit their official account. After that, click the three-dot option and choose the Block button. This will prevent them from visiting your account and messaging you.
- Restricting who can comment on your posts or mention you in their own posts is also another efficient way to limit unknown IG users. To do this, just visit your Settings and click the "Privacy and Comments" option. Once you are there, you can either choose the "Everyone," "People You Follow," or "People Who Follow You" option.
Making Your IG Account Private
Of course, the best way to restrict other IG users from contacting you is by making your Instagram account private. The Verge provided the simple steps you can follow:
- The first thing you can do is open IG's Settings menu. After that, click the "hamburger" button.
- After that, choose the Privacy option and click the "Account Privacy" button. Once you are there, activate the "Private Account" setting.
