It seems like Rockstar is finally putting more attention to the Red Dead Redemption series and straying from GTA.

Since late 2020, Rockstar is said to be already working on the remake of Red Dead Redemption, along with a next-gen port. This resurfaced in late 2020 but it was shut down immediately. However, according to French journalist Chris Klippel who runs Rockstar Mag, the projects are still in the works.

Kippel also said that Red Dead 2 was supposed to be announced much earlier. However, Rockstar decided to go ahead with the Red Dead Redemption Remake; therefore, the plans for Red Dead 2 were pushed back.

Fan-Made 'Red Dead Redemption Remake'

A collaborative project between dedicated fans created a trailer of what Red Dead Redemption would look like running in Unreal Engine 5. You can watch the video here

Even though this isn't the real thing, this makes the possibility of a remake even stronger. Things even got more interesting when a Reddit post got mysteriously deleted last year which claimed that a Red Dead Redemption Remake would be released before GTA 6

#SaveRedDeadOnline

Meanwhile, the Red Dead Online community has been begging Rockstar to provide them with more significant updates to the game, similar to what GTA has been using by using the hashtag #SaveRedDeadOnline for months now. So far, the community has only received little information.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said they are aware of the frustration of the community, but said that it is Rockstar they should look to for a response.

"Rockstar Games talks about the updates that are coming, and we're working on an awful lot at Rockstar Games. I've heard the frustration, it's flattering that they want more content, and more will be said by Rockstar in due time," he said.

Take-Two is the parent company of Rockstar Games, and recently, the corporation detailed its broad plans for the coming years. Although the remake of Red Dead Redemption wasn't explicitly stated that it would be coming any time soon, it looks like it's really in the works.

The parent company revealed their plan to release eight new iterations of previously released titles," and this suggests that they will remake or remaster eight different games from their back catalog and release them in the coming years.

All Hands On Deck For 'Grand Theft Auto 6'

It is known that Rockstar is busy with GTA 6 following the success of GTA 5. It's no surprise that the company is very eager to make the sixth installment of the game a success. Early rumors about the latest GTA came to make it look like it's a very ambitious game in the works that will require another heavy investment of money and labor from the developer.

The development may even exceed their investment in Red Dead Redemption 2, and it's likely that they will draw from their global studios again to ensure the game is released within the set timeline.
