While PlayStation had Tekken, Microsoft's Xbox had "SoulCalibur." Although the game gained massive success and a lot of fans enjoyed playing it, both "SoulCalibur" and "SoulCalibur 2 HD" was removed from the Microsoft Store for the Xbox with rumors pointing towards the addition of a certain character as the reason for its delisting.

'SoulCalibur' and 'SoulCalibur 2 HD' is No Longer Available to Buy for Xbox on the Microsoft Store

According to the story by Eurogamer, "SoulCalibur 2 HD" is not completely unavailable for all Xbox consoles. The game can still be played on the Xbox 360 backward compatibility but won't be purchasable anymore on the Microsoft Store.

The strange occurrence was initially spotted by Jon Cartwright, who posted pictures of the results on Twitter. The posts questioned both Xbox and Bandai Namco UK regarding the delisting of "SoulCalibur" from the Microsoft Store.

Rumored Theory Behind the Delisting of 'SoulCalibur' Points Towards the Addition of Spawn

Although recently discovered, it was said that the delisting might have happened "some time ago." When searching for "SoulCalibur 2 HD" or "SoulCalibur" on the Microsoft Store, buyers will get a message saying "currently not available."

Speculations have started to arise regarding the reason behind the delisting of these popular games from the Microsoft Store for Xbox. As per the rumors, this could be because Spawn, a character by Todd McFarlane, was added to the Xbox version.

Spawn Might Not be the Reason as Suggested by an Alternate Theory

This, however, was not clarified by either Bandai Namco or the Microsoft Store. As of press time, there is no confirmation as to the real reason why "SoulCalibur" and "SoulCalibur 2 HD" were delisted from the store.

An article by VG247, however, shares another theory as to why the games are not available on the Microsoft Store. As per the article, Sega recently announced that it would "delist all of its classic Sonic games" as it prepares to launch Sonic Origins on June 23.

Alternate Theory Says 'SoulCalibur' Might be Preparing to Launch a Collection

The alternate theory is that Bandai Namco could also be planning to do the same thing with "SoulCalibur" and could also release a collection version later on. This theory, however, is also not supported by facts and still remains speculation but as seen on the official Xbox website, "SoulCalibur 2 HD" shows the message "not available separately."

There is still no telling as to what the true reason behind the games' delisting from the store meant. So far, the theories are pitching that either "SoulCalibur" included a character that couldn't be played on the Xbox or Bandai Namco is planning to launch a collection for the game some time in the future.
