Fans of the classic FPS game, "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare," could be in for a treat as the second installation for the game could come as early as September, according to rumors. It's important to note, however, that the launch will be an open beta version and not the full game itself just yet.
'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' Beta Version Release
According to the story by PlayStation Lifestyle, the upcoming beta version of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" is expected to first come to either the PS5 or the PS4. According to some of the latest rumors, the launch of the beta could happen in September and is expected to take place over two weekends.
The article notes that the first weekend that the beta will be made available will be for PlayStation players, and the other weekend will make the beta version of the game available to cross-play beta between all types of platforms.
Rumors Say Beta Version Could be Available as Early as September 15
What If Gaming provides a more fixed release date for the beta version, saying it is coming out exactly on September 15 as per the latest rumors. In order to get early access to the game, gamers will have to pre-order it on PS5 or PS4.
All players will also have access to the game and will be able to join on September 17. The exclusive PlayStation beta period is reportedly expected to come to an end on September 19.
Gamers Will be Able to Play the Beta Version Despite Not Pre-Ordering the Game but for a Very Limited Time
Players who decide to pre-order the game on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, or Xbox One will be able to gain access to the second beta period, which is expected to start on September 22. Those that have not yet been able to pre-order the game will also be given a chance to join the beta when the early access finally ends on September 24.
The beta access, however, will not last for long and is expected to end on September 26. The second beta will let players test out the game on all platforms to check out how the cross-play features work.

'Call of Duty: Mordern Warfare 2' Release Date Expected to Drop on October 28
"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" is expected to be fully released on October 28. As per Game Revolution, the beta was previously expected to drop in August due to an amazon game listing noting that beta codes would be sent out within that month.
Although everything sounds like solid information, it is important to take this with "a pinch of salt" until Activision themselves, and Infinity Ward decide to confirm the dates of the beta version of their upcoming "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" game.
