Rockstar Games is assuring its gamers that they haven't abandoned Red Dead Online but have been busy over the past few years focusing on the GTA series. The company noted that they are still in the process of making changes regarding how they support Red Dead Online.

Red Dead Online Will No Longer be Getting Any 'Major Themed Content Updates'

According to the story by The Verge, Red Dead Online will no longer be getting any "major themed content updates" partly because Rockstar Games is placing more of its resources into the next Grand Theft Auto title.

The article by IGN noted that for fans that have been wondering if the Red Dead Online game is being abandoned, the answer is that although it won't shut down, the company will not be making much content for the game moving forward.

Rockstar Games Provided an Update Regarding What Gamers are Supposed to Expect

According to a blog post by Rockstar Games, over the course of the past few years, they have been steadily moving more of their resources when it comes to development towards the upcoming entry in the Grand Theft Auto series.

The company noted that they understand more than ever the need for players' expectations to be exceeded when it comes to their next entry and this is something that they are trying their best to do. As a result, they are still in the process of making certain changes regarding how they can support Red Dead Online.

The Studio Says They are Not Abandoning the Game

When it comes to the future of Red Dead Online, alongside some of the seasonal special events and experience improvements, they are planning to build certain existing modes as well as add the new Telegram Missions this coming year.

Some other changes that are expected to come are enhancements that could help maintain a "healthy Red Dead Online environment." Instead of delivering major themed content updates like in the past years, they are going to continue to highlight and share their creative efforts with the community at any opportunity they get.

Ahead of the announcement, the Red Dead franchise fan account had actually been planning for a funeral on July 13. The date signals the one-year anniversary of the most recent major content update of the game.

Rockstar Games Updates When It Comes to the GTA Online Game

Rockstar also confirmed back in February that it is indeed working on the next entry when it comes to the Grand Theft Auto series franchise. The studio is also planning to continue to add content to its current GTA Online.

Rockstar Games even detailed some of the updates within its blog posts regarding what players can expect from GTA Online.
