Popularity of Video Game Live Adaptations has Grown Since The Witcher on Netflix

The trend of video games turned into live adaptation series has started to gain more and more popularity over the years with titles like The Witcher on Netflix showing the potential of real-life adaptations of classic video games.

An article by Essentially Sports even shared how the success of the series on Netflix helped increase the popularity of its game, "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt." As per the article, more and more people started buying the game after the first season on Netflix.

Footage of 'The Last of Us' Series Released by HBO

While the original game was released back in 2015 and was still popular at that time, the Netflix adaptation saw the series game even more popular among those outside of the video game industry and from the mainstream market.

As per Variety, the first footage of Pedro Pascal in "The Last of Us" series was released by HBO. The footage shows how the video game franchise looks on HBO Max was also uploaded to YouTube.

 

Comparison Video Shows Difference Between the Trailer and Video Game

To dive even further into the upcoming series, IGN released a tweet that showed the trailer along with clips from the actual game to show the similarities and differences between the two. The comparison included dialogue, cutscenes, and actual gameplay.

 

In an article by Polygon, the series is expected to arrive in 2023 and so far, fans only have a 20-second trailer from HBO Max. As per the article, the trailer manages to be faithful to the game as a lot of the characters, including Ellie and Joel's argument dialogue from the game was recreated.

'The Last of Us' will Reportedly Feature 10 Episodes in the First Season

The series will reportedly be created by the creator and writer behind HBO's Chernobyl, Craig Mazin. As for its executive producer, the series will be getting Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann.

Other important actors in the series include Gabriel Luna from Terminator: Dark Fate and Anna Torv from Mindhunter. The upcoming "The Last of Us" will reportedly feature 10 episodes in its first season.

Filming was Wrapped Up in Canada After 13 Months on June 2022

So far, there has still been no official announcement regarding a potential second season for the upcoming series. In an article by Games Radar, as of June 2022, they were able to wrap in Canada after finishing a 13-month shooting that started in April of 2021.

Another interesting character that is expected to appear on screen is Nick Offerman playing Bill.
