Did you know that National Coffee Day is celebrated every Oct. 1?

The first official date was October 1 2015, launched in Milan, Italy, set by International Coffee Organization. The event aimed to promote fair trade coffee and raise awareness of the plight of coffee growers.

This year's National Coffee Day is coming, and this will be the perfect day to celebrate the beverage that fuels our day.

Coffee has become a dominant product in every household. It is one of the best parts of waking up in the morning. It's very rare not to see it in most families' kitchens.

Each country has even developed its version of the beverage.

Italy has espresso, a concentrated form of coffee. Turkey has shared their thick brew recipe, the Türk Kahvesi.

Ireland offers Irish coffee. Their people were so creative, infusing their coffee with a type of whiskey and then topped with cream. Greece also has the Greek frappé, which is a cold blended drink.

But with all of the most modern types of coffee, do you ever wonder how our old generation makes their drinks? Remember, instant coffee hasn't emerged until the 1930s.

Coffee Makers Throughout the Decades

Here's a quick roundup of the coffee makers throughout the decades.

1865 - The first-ever coffee percolator was introduced and patented by James Nason from Massachusetts. Years later, it was improved to become a stove top percolator by Hanson Goodrich from Illinois.

1884 - The oldest espresso machine was born, patented by Angelo Moriondo. By that time, the product was a flop, and people weren't pleased.

1901 - Milanese mechanic Luigi Bezzera decided to make a number of significant improvements to the initial espresso machine. Bezzera basically made it possible to prepare the drink faster than it used to.

1906 - Desiderio Pavoni, the founder of the world-famous La Pavoni brand, bought Bezerra's copyright to start producing espresso machines and selling them commercially. The first few units debuted at the Milan Fair in the same year.

1908 - German entrepreneur Melitta Bentz invented the pour-over method or drip coffees. She used blotting paper-based filters, which was her solution to percolators that over-brew the coffees and make them taste bitter.

1927 - WMF group, a former subsidiary company in Goppingen, Germany, manufactured the first series of its coffee machines.

1929 -The original French press was invented. Italians Attilio Calimani and Giulio Moneta patented the design.

1933 - The Moka pot came into the picture. Italian engineer Alfonso Bialetti filed for the copyright of this model. He named it after Mocha, a city in Yemen. Up to these days, it is being widely used in homes all over Asia, Europe, and South America.

1954 - The drip coffee maker was upgraded to turn into an electric device. It was called the Wigomat and was invented in Germany by Gottlob Widmann.

1961 - The next revolution in coffee machines happened when the Faema company released the first pump-driven espresso machine. The manual force was no longer needed as it used a motorized pump to produce pressure. Thanks to this invention, present-day coffee production keeps on using this technique.

1972 - Mr. Coffee popularized the automatic drip coffee maker through an aggressive marketing campaign. The project successfully replaced the percolator as the most-used brewing method in the US.

This National Coffee Day, it is just ethical to thank all of these people who made coffee-making easier and easier.
