In a recent partnership, Singapore's StarHub telco established a mobile health service to link patients of Alexandra Hospital and ConnectedLife with medical professionals via Fitbit. Additionally, this is aimed to run through a customized health and lifestyle app that incorporates Fitbit data from willing users.

In order to enable a network of caregivers to support their healthcare management, the partnership has reportedly just enlisted 300 consenting patients at launch, according to ZDNet.

Starhub is a Singaporean multinational telecommunications conglomerate and one of the country's largest telcos. On Sept. 19, the carrier also announced TV+ Pro, its latest set-top box with an integrated soundbar designed to captivate audiences with the most immersive TV experience.

StarHub Launches Digital Health Service

According to a press release, this collaboration will allow users to share their Fitbit data via the LifeHub+ app and receive dynamic health scores, data alerts, and metrics that provide "simple, clear insights into their health for tracking and daily improvement."

Also, according to StarHub, this collaboration is the first of its kind in the market and provides numerous opportunities for users and healthcare professionals to access critical medical data.

Customers can also authorize a pre-programmed care team, which includes their family doctor, a health coach, caregivers, and even doctors from other healthcare institutions, to access their health data through a dedicated secure LifeHub+ dashboard.

The telecommunications company affirms that leveraging its expertise in communications and connectivity to develop a digital health service can assist doctors in channeling attentive care and enrolling consenting patients in a holistic health plan.

This collaborative effort also aims to strengthen the bonds between patients and their medical teams. Additionally, by providing timely interventions through a personalized health plan, this initiative enhances the management of patients' health and lifestyles, particularly in the prevention and management of chronic diseases.

More About the Partnership

How does the app work? Fitbit metrics, such as steps, exercise, sleep patterns, heart rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature variation, breathing rate, oxygen saturation, and more, are included in the LifeHub+ app's health and wellness data, and users can choose to share them.

Harnessing the most advanced technology, the LifeHub+ app combines gathered information with user-recorded blood pressure and blood glucose readings from independent devices to produce a dynamic wellness score. The LifeHub+ platform integrates Fitbit data that users choose to share using the open WebAPI.

How much will this app cost users and practitioners? According to the news release, doctors can use the free, scalable LifeHub+ cloud service. Patients pay $9.99 per month to their healthcare providers to enroll in ConnectedCare, a LifeHub+ plan.

For the first 12 months, the first 300 LifeHub+ subscribers who sign up through partner GPs will receive a Fitbit device and free access to ConnectedCare, enabling them to receive digital support from their care team. Through the partner hospital, more than 30 GPs have expressed interest in using this new service to more effectively manage the health and lifestyle of their patients.
