The world is not yet that advanced to bring a working eye for prosthetics, one that is usually seen in sci-fi movies and other dystopian depictions of medical technology-empowered futures. The famous "Titanium Skull Lamp" of TikTok is from an engineer who made an eye prosthetic for his missing eye after cancer struck him and lost his organ in the process.

The prosthetic eye lights up, and it brings a look that is close to early cyborgs, also that of Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Terminator," but also brings other colors for the eye.

Brian Stanley is a famous TikTok personality now, especially for his viral video which focuses on the "Titanium Skull Lamp" which uses a prosthetic eye that lights up, which he developed himself.

His TikTok account, @bsmachinist, contains multiple videos that change the color and design of his prosthetic eye to whatever he wants them to be, getting multiple inspirations from pop culture references.

Stanley said that he lost his eye to cancer, which he fought and survived, but ended up losing the organ in the process.

In one of his videos, he transformed his eye, which he dubbed the "Titanium Skull Lamp," into a flashlight, illuminating dark places with his prosthetics without the need for using the smartphone torch.

TikTok Engineer is Viral for Lighting Eye Prosthetics

The famous TikTok engineer tweaks his eye to different references, and one includes the famous "Terminator" eyes which glow red from the left eye, from the hit 1980s movie. At one point, he created two versions of the Sharingan eyes from Naruto, one is the three-Tomoe, and the other is Kakashi Hatake's Mangekyou Sharingan.

Stanley said that LEDs do not emit high heat and the material he uses, Titanium, is heat resistant.

Prosthetics and Eye Developments Now

Robots and artificial intelligence get upgrades now with human-like eyes available to them, all focused on providing technology with lenses that capture the modern world with the latest developments in tech. The same is under development to replace lost or damaged eyes due to illnesses or accidents, something that will soon be available in modern medicine.

However, researchers and innovators have a long way to go for this, particularly with their developments that have not yet achieved human-like eyes that will provide the same vision as the organic one.

For now, researchers are focusing on treating eye conditions without the need to cut or open them up using non-invasive procedures and methods that will help them achieve the most in the operation.

To date, vision is still one of the most important functions that a person has, but it is not a disability for those born without it or taken away from them after accidents that cost them their sight.

It is also not a form of disability, especially for the likes of Brian Stanley, the famed TikTok engineer who became famous for making his eye prosthetics light up upon command. It also serves as a helpful way for him, particularly as he celebrates his disability, giving him plenty of options for his next Halloween costume.
