As COVID-19 cases continue to surge in China, several companies decided to shut down their plants so the further spread of the infection will be avoided.

According to 9to5Mac, Foxconn, the prominent company with the "largest iPhone assembly facility" worldwide, will undergo a seven-day closure as part of the city's health protocols.

As a background, the iPhone city is a huge plant that consists of more than 300,000 workers. China ensures that it still keeps its economic pace running despite several lockdowns.

To make it happen, the country implements closed-loop production where employees can do their routine normally, even amid restrictions. They would work, eat, and rest on campus during these times.

Speaking of which, the Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone located in central China will roll out a "silent management" treatment to the iPhone plant. This would mean that the number of visitors will be limited, and only authorized vehicles will be allowed to enter the vicinity of the facility.

How Can the Lockdown Affect Foxconn Operations

Per Reuters, the restriction will reportedly end on Nov. 9. Following more than 300 local cases of transmission on Tuesday, Nov. 1, the government immediately imposed tight measures on the facility once again.

Seven months ago, Foxconn's Zhengzhou factory got back in operation after undergoing a brief lockdown on Apr. 5. Thousands of staff underwent COVID-19 testing at that time.

The suppliers can feel the impact of lockdowns on Foxconn, especially since it is the biggest iPhone factory to exist globally.

Reuters writes that it accounts for 70% of overall iPhone shipments around the world, so even the slightest change will surely affect the delivery in some parts of the globe.

Outside the Zhengzhou plant, Foxconn kicks off its production in South China. The company also has a small factory in India.

At the time, the report did not mention the measures that Foxconn would need to comply with. However, the iPhone city is expected to face issues regarding good transportation.

Apart from the COVID-19 prevention protocols, some employees are reportedly leaving the plant because of Foxconn's unfair treatment of some workers. This incident might prompt the company to improve its bonuses for each of its staff.

Previously, Foxconn acknowledged some enhancements for the supply chain for this year. The Taiwan-based firm announced that the situation was improving even though lockdowns slowed down the production of the iPhones.
