SAN FRANCISCO, CA - SEPTEMBER 13: CEO of Comma.ai George "Geohot" Hotz speaks onstage during TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2016 at Pier 48 on September 13, 2016 in San Francisco, California.

Resigning from Twitter

"Geohot" resigned from his position on Twitter, after joining the company over a month ago. The Verge reported that he appreciated the journey but believed that he did not think that there was any impact during his stay.

The former CEO lasted as an intern for Twitter for about five and a half weeks, a much shorter time than his proposed 12-week stint.

iClarified reported that if he made any contributions during his stay, he said, "Yes, though none too impactful." He added that there are no regrets about his decision and will still be rooting for the success of Twitter in Musk's leadership. However, he was unhappy with the short-lived policy of the platform that banned links to Instagram.

Twitter Error

A few days ago, he tweeted a poll about his employment on Twitter, similar to the CEO's poll regarding if he should step down. With a total of 81,890 votes, 64% of it voted no while 36% voted yes.

On November 16th, Hotz offered himself to join the company in exchange for the cost of living in San Francisco, as he voiced support for the new Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk and his acknowledgment regarding the platform's "extremely hardcore" upgrade. Musk replied to his tweet, "Sure, let's talk."

He was hired two days later after the interaction as he officially worked with Twitter. He was tasked to fix the Twitter Search and the popup non-dismissable login while scrolling Twitter which he described as "things that ruin the internet."

Before all of this happened, he recently resigned as the Chief Executive Officer of Comma Ai, which is a driver-assist technology company that acted as a competitor to Elon Musk's own Autopilot for Tesla.

His resignation comes after he said that the company had changed and that he was better suited as a cheerleader and a court jester of the company.

Hotz was also offered a multimillion-dollar contract by Musk to work for his auto company Tesla. But as per Eurogamer, he declined and ended a disagreement between the two, as he claimed that he could develop a better self-driving car system.

Thanks to the internship from Twitter, the two seemingly made up as both of them have a mutual interest in building a better search engine for Twitter.
