Following the controversial ban of TikTok on state-owned devices in Texas, another huge order came to suppress the Chinese video-viewing app once again.

This time, the politicians have agreed to ban the app from all devices issued by the US House of Representatives.

According to the chief issuer of the ban, the Chinese video-sharing app poses a "high risk to users."

In a short series of decisions made by the lower chamber of Congress, the US politicians came up with the idea of avoiding using TikTok in devices issued by the House of Representatives.

According to a report by The Guardian, officials from the House are now banned from accessing the app. The decision was created amid the political conflict between the US and China.

However, per chief administrative officer (CAO) of the House Catherine Szpindor, the ban order was brought up because TikTok poses a "high risk" to all users.

This means that all staff members and lawmakers whose smartphones were issued by the House will be barred from using and even downloading TikTok.

"House staff are NOT allowed to download the TikTok app on any House mobile devices. If you have the TikTok app on your House mobile device, you will be contacted to remove it," NBC quoted from the memo.

Will the US Push the Nationwide Ban on TikTok?

The TikTok ban on House-issued devices is just a start of a bigger campaign by the US government. According to a story by Phone Arena, there's a more extreme version of the order which tackles the potential ban of the app in the entire United States.

The report says that Senate Intelligence Committee member Marco Rubio proposed a bipartisan bill that focuses on the total ban of the entertainment app across the country.

In short, if the said ban happens today, all US-based TikTok users can no longer access the app.

The same report also includes that the ban should be passed "protect Americans from the threat posed by certain foreign adversaries using current or potential future social media companies" and prevent TikTok and similar apps from "learning sensitive data about Americans, or spreading influence campaigns, propaganda, and censorship."

The US government aims to pass a bill that involves banning social media apps with at least one million users per month.

The country wants to eliminate those apps created outside the US, including China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela.

Because the US plans to ban TikTok, its parent firm ByteDance will also get involved in the process. The video-sharing app is said to be a huge threat to national security.

Just a few days ago, ByteDance reportedly axed four staff who were involved in stealing confidential data from TikTok users.
