Details are scarce about the new Walking Dead spin-off show, which is rumored to take place in Los Angeles during the time Rick would have been in a coma in season one.

One thing we do know is that showrunners have stressed the two shows will remain separate. As in they won't crossover. As in they won't share characters. Except maybe not. A new report from the Nerdist suggests that a character from the spin-off series will indeed be making a six-episode appearance on The Walking Dead proper come season six.

How exactly will that work, when it is assumed the spin-off show will be taking place before the events of season six of the show? Some spoilers might be involved. If the spin-off character is on season six of the main show (which will be much further along in the Walking Dead timeline than the spin-off) then viewers will automatically know that character will survive the events of the spin-off. Another possibility is the spin-off character will be portrayed through flashbacks, though that seems less likely.

Either way, it's a smart move for AMC to incorporate part of the spin-off into the main Walking Dead show. By introducing a strong character that people might become attached to, more viewers are likely to begin watching the spin-off series as well in order to find out about the character's past.

The Nerdist also claims that the show will be titled Fear The Walking Dead. Let's hope they can come up with something better before the show premieres, but it seems a given that the big-wigs at AMC are going to force "Walking Dead" into the name of the title.

In the meantime anxious Walking Dead fans can check out the latest trailer for the mid-season premiere of season five. The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Feb. 8.
