BMW DEE Concept Car

The big boss of the German automaker introduced their new concept car, the Digital Emotional Experience, shortly known as DEE, during the BMW Keynote.

Zipse says that the "perfect digital car of the future" is "electric," "circular," and "digital."

By 2025, BMW is looking forward to an all-electric lineup. The CEO said that more people are now embracing the electrified driving experience.

Besides that, the German firm is pushing towards making their cars "circular." Zipse explains that all the material used to produce its cars can be and will be used again. As such, its future offerings are taking sustainability seriously.

He notes that "digital" is not about who has the largest display or the highest processing power. Instead, what matters most is what the users actually feel and experience.

The CEO also states that it is not about having the most features. In most cases, he says these additional features do not even make sense.

Zipse went on to introduce the new Dee concept car, which flaunts a "digital emotional experience."

It talks to the user and seemingly flaunts a personality. The E-Ink provides facial expressions to the grill of the vehicle, making it more human-like.

Mixed Reality Slider

Besides these science fiction-like features, Dee sports a Mixed Reality Slider, which has five levels. It allows users to customize their dashboard with a HUD-like interface.

The first level shows information about the surroundings, whereas the second level allows users to connect to friends and family members. It houses text messages and lets users answer their calls.

Meanwhile, the third option shows these two combined. And on top of that, it comes with augmented navigation data, including obstacles and collision warnings.

On the other hand, level 4 and 5 brings virtual elements to the windshield along with the information from other levels, making it seem like a video game.

BMW Color-Changing Car

The BMW boss went back on stage to remind everyone of the color-changing car that the automaker introduced last CES 2022, which changes color from black to white.

But this time, Dee is on a much higher level.

The engineer behind it, Stella Clarke, unveiled the new color-changing capabilities of the concept car. It entered the stage in white color. Then, it switched to other hues like violet and yellow.

Clarke touts that the color-changing feature is not merely about aesthetics. It is functional and helps owners express themselves.

Not to mention that the E-Ink tech only uses low energy. So users can switch from one color to another without wasting their battery range.
