This brings the company one step closer to creating a green corridor in one of Europe's central logistics hubs, particularly between North Sea Port (Ghent) and Gothenburg.

Mass Production for Tevva Electric Truck

After unveiling the electric truck in October 2021, a critical regulatory approval from the Vehicle Certification Agency and the Swedish Transport Agency was received by Tevva to mass produce its upcoming electric truck named TEV75.

Interesting Engineering reported that this will retail to European countries, heavily to the United Kingdom.

This makes them the first company in the UK to secure European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval after conducting 30 system tests such as electric safety and electromagnetic compatibility.

As per the company's release, Founder and Chief Executive Officer Asher Bennett stated that "the first mass-produced electric trucks have started to be delivered from their UK base and will be eagerly received by customers including Expect Distribution, Travis Perkins, and Royal Mail."

Production will take place in a manufacturing facility in Tilbury, Essex.

Tevva is aiming to decarbonize the cargo shipping industry in an effort to follow other manufacturers such as Tesla and Volvo, based on a report from The Guardian

The company claims that the trucks that they will be producing are sustainable and accessible at the same time which will empower the transport industry and European governments to achieve net zero.

TEV75's Offerings

The electric truck offers a range of 140 miles or 227 kilometers from its modest 105 kWh battery on a single charge. TEV75 will also be offering last-mile connectivity and urban delivery fleets.

A Type 2 charger will take the vehicle around five hours to charge up to 90%, with a 22-kW fast charging supported. For its rated payloads, the truck stands at 6,485 lb or 2,942 kg and has a wheelbase of 4,815 mm or 189.5 in.

Hybrid Version

Aside from this, Electrek reported that the company is preparing to launch a hybrid version that contains hydrogen range extenders that will be added to the electric system of the vehicle. The vehicle is expected to deliver a range of 354 miles or 570 kilometers.

With hydrogen fuel, the vehicle will open doors to the industry as it opens options for longer ranges, heavier payloads, and fast refueling that enables greater uptime, which makes this fuel a battery option for battery charging.

Asher added, "By embracing both hydrogen and electric fuel sources, we can rethink the energy mix in transport, reduce strain on our electricity grid and accelerate electric truck adoption."

The hybrid version of the truck will be offering a 19.8 lb or 9 kg hydrogen tank, with a range of 266 miles or 428 km.

Compared to its electric-only variant, this will feature a much larger 112kW battery pack, but as per reports, the power and torque figures will remain identical. For its payload capacity, it offers 5,992 lb or 2,718 kg.
