The Tekken World Tournament 2022 recently ended and it named Pakistani, Atiff Butt, as the winner.

However, there is an awe-inspiring story that the TWT 2022 birthed for the world to see, and it is about a 31-year-old Italian dad, by the name of Joshua "Ghirlanda" Bianchi, who won fourth place and made waves in the "Tekken" and eSports industry.

Despite finishing fourth place in the Tekken World Tour last February 5, Ghirlanda treats this as a massive win, especially for someone balancing two full-time jobs, as well as taking care of his daughter.

Joshua Bianchi, also known by his professional eSports name, Ghirlanda, shared a post on his Facebook account which tells his journey and the challenges he faced toward his appearance in the Tekken World Tour 2022.

Here, the player said that he had to struggle between two full-time jobs, taking care of his family, having no sponsors to back him, and limited practice time to prepare for the tournament.

Despite all this, Ghirlanda managed to overcome many obstacles and was able to give his best on TWT 2022, with his initial qualifying matches pooled against industry veterans. According to One eSports, the group stage pooled him against EVO Champion "Knee" from South Korea, reigning Tekken World Tour champion "Chikurin" from Japan, and unified EVO champion Arlan Ash from Pakistan.

Ghirlanda went on to defeat "Joey Fury" Bennet and "Nobi" Nakayama to advance to the finals but was ultimately handed his defeat by "Jeondding" Jeon of South Korea.

The Italian dad was not bitter for ranking 4th in the recent Tekken World Tour 2022, saying that it was an incredible journey for him, with his family by his side.

Bianchi plans to return for the Tekken World Tour 2023.

Bandai Namco's Tekken

For some, "Tekken" may only be a pastime to play the arcade game on their PCs or consoles, especially as it features a similar game mode for all, with the fighting game pitting one against random or online players and characters here.

However, it is life for some people.

"Tekken 7" alone already achieved a milestone of selling as many as 10 million copies of the game worldwide, and this is considering that it was released in March 2015. It is still an iconic arcade title now, especially in terms of action-fighting games present in the industry.

Despite being an old game, it still sees significant updates from the company and its developers, including that of new characters still joining the game as DLCs and such.

"Tekken" has been long adopted in the world of eSports and professional, competitive gaming, where competitions like the Tekken World Tour become an avenue to hash out their skills in the game.

For someone like Bianchi, it is not an easy feat to reach the top 8 of the world's top pool, considering the challenges and trials he had to face for his family and career as a professional gamer.
