Snapchat is the latest instant messaging app to embrace the power of ChatGPT. With artificial intelligence becoming the subject of most news headlines at the moment, many companies think that adapting to the trend is a vital way to thrive in the business.

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel has high hopes that chatbots will be the future following the success of AI-powered apps and programs.

Snapchat Plus subscribers can soon access the "My AI" chatbot, the newest ChatGPT-powered service offered by OpenAI on the platform.

According to a report by The Verge, Snapchat is banking on "My AI," the latest chatbot that users can access on the chat tab.

At the moment, this feature is exclusively available to Snapchat Plus subscribers. Spiegel aims to hit their target goal of having 750 million users every month. For those interested in the pricing of this feature, it will cost you a monthly fee of $3.99.

"The big idea is that in addition to talking to our friends and family every day, we're going to talk to AI every day. And this is something we're well positioned to do as a messaging service," Spiegel says.

My AI's Restrictions on Snapchat Plus

It might be your first time hearing about My AI which is just a ChatGPT packaged in the Snapchat app. However, there's a difference between Snap's ChatGPT and the usual version.

While people can use OpenAI's regular software for almost all automated tasks, Snap offers "more restricted" responses to the users.

The messaging platform also ensures that My AI is trained enough to comply with the company's guidelines. This means that it won't answer you if you ask about serious topics about politics, explicit discussions about sex, swearing, and more.

We might find ChatGPT to be a go-to tool online, especially if we have assignments to answer. With this app, you can obtain answers faster, but it's not always guaranteed to be right.

ChatGPT has also faced controversies this year following teachers' comments about its irresponsible use. Some students are abusing AI to finish their homework faster than before. AI-generated content is already flooding web searches right now.

What Snap is doing on ChatGPT is even more effective with the restrictions being imposed on the software. In short, the company wants it to be interactive with the users, just like an online friend you met on Facebook or any other social media space.

Snapchat might be struggling to attract users following its revenue decline in 2022. With the arrival of My AI, the firm hopes to bounce back from its loss and gather more subscribers in the meantime.
