FREMONT, CA - SEPTEMBER 29: A new Tesla Model X Crossover SUV is displayed on September 29, 2015 in Fremont, California. After several production delays, Tesla CEO Elon Musk officially launched the much anticipated Tesla Model X Crossover SUV.

According to Business Insider, the Grinnet County Police North Precinct officers responded to a call where two individuals stole several PC gaming systems from a store and fled the scene in a Tesla.

It didn't take long for the police to catch them at a location in Duluth where there are ChargePoint and Electrify America charging stations. There is also a Tesla Destination Charger in the area.

The vehicle was filled with boxes of gaming PCs, along with some guns, electric toothbrushes, and what seemed like several pounds of suspected marijuana.

It is also unclear whether the Tesla the suspects used was stolen or not. There is also no clear information on what kind of Tesla Model X the suspects used. However, it's worth noting that the latest version can go over 300 miles on a single charge.

Not the First EV Used as a Getaway Car

This isn't the first time an electric vehicle has been used as a getaway car. In 2019, a woman stole a Tesla Model S in Arizona but was later caught by the police after the range of the electric vehicle got down to zero.

The use of electric vehicles for criminal activities is becoming increasingly popular due to their silent and speedy nature. Many electric vehicles can go over 100 mph, and their lack of noise makes them hard to detect. This makes them the perfect getaway car for criminals.

The increasing popularity of electric vehicles has also made them a target for thieves. The criminals know that these vehicles can be used for quick getaways and are also valuable, making them worth stealing.

To prevent theft, owners of electric vehicles should take extra precautions to safeguard their vehicles. This includes installing security systems, GPS tracking, and other measures. Owners should also be aware of their vehicle's range when parking in public places.

Electric vehicles are also becoming increasingly popular among law enforcement agencies. Police departments across the country have adopted electric cars for their fleets, as they provide a more sustainable solution than traditional gasoline-powered vehicles.

Electric cars can help reduce emissions and noise pollution in cities, making them an attractive option for police forces that want to be environmentally conscious.

In addition to being used by law enforcement officers, electric vehicles are often seen on racetracks around the world. Professional racing teams use these powerful machines in competitions such as Formula E and other events where speed is essential.

The silent nature of electric motors makes them ideal for competitive driving scenarios since there isn't any engine noise from nearby competitors during races or time trials.

The increasing popularity of electric vehicles has created new opportunities both within criminal activities and legitimate industries alike - proving how versatile this technology truly is!
