Steam is offering refunds for The Last of Us on computers after complaints about the game's performance.

Fans have been looking forward to this game on their PCs for quite some time, but the final result has yet to quite meet their expectations.

Less-than-Flawless Game Launch

The PC version of the game has had a rocky start, as Game Rant reported. Players of The Last of Us on release day said to be waiting an hour or more for the game to load. Sony's worst fear would be for this to happen to one of its iconic series on PC, given the company's dedication to porting its best games to the platform.

Even before the game was released, several players were worried that Iron Galaxy, the company responsible for the disastrous PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight, would be in charge of the port. Quite a few of the same problems that plagued the PC adaptation of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which was also handled by Iron Galaxy, seem to be present in The Last of Us game as well.

Opting to Receive Refunds

According to Game Rant, Reddit member Turbostrider27 brought up the game refunds in a post.

Although Steam's standard refund policy allows customers to get their money back if they have not played a game for more than two hours and as long as it has not been more than two weeks after they bought it, in certain high-profile situations, this has been stretched. The introduction of Cyberpunk 2077 was met with similar claims that it was the most controversial video game ever released.

Players are understandably upset with The Last of Us, with the game receiving a review bomb on Steam and getting continuous complaints of performance issues and malfunctions.

Many gamers are already opting to receive refunds instead of continuing to play. Thus, it is important that Naughty Dog, the game's developer, take care of correcting the port in the next few weeks to avoid further disappointments.

Concerns regarding The Last of Us on PC have been heard by Naughty Dog, so perhaps patches should be arriving shortly.

While the development team has already delivered a few minor hotfixes, it has not significantly resolved most of the difficulties, which are more complex procedures.

Disappointed Fans

It is unfortunate that things have reached this point. Fans have been waiting a long time to play this game on their desktop computers, but the final product has not lived up to their hopes. Those eager to experience Joel and Ellie's journey in computer game form for the first time have been fueled by the show's critical success on television.

Naughty Dog's decision to postpone The Last of Us on PC by a month was seen as a positive indicator that the developer was serious about releasing a polished product. With suspicion about the game's status without a wait, many players may see the delay as damage control.
