Intel, ARM to Bring New Smartphone Processors to Power Your Devices—What to Expect

A new smartphone processor is coming from a renowned semiconductor chip company, Intel, which recently partnered with ARM to bring life to handheld mobile devices. The company is now looking to develop new smartphone chips that would power mobile devices in the future with its latest partnership, centering on taking the competition to Qualcomm, Apple, and more.

Intel and ARM's development would center on SoCs (systems on chips) that feature the proprietary Intel technology that is best known for powering desktops and laptops for years.

Intel Foundry Services (IFS) and ARM have announced via a press release that it entered into a "multigenerational agreement" to produce smartphone processors for the world soon. It will center on Intel 18A technology and the famous SoC development from ARM, to give smartphones a significant boost in its process.

The companies said that they will focus on smartphones first, but has the potential to expand to other industries including the automotive industry, the Internet of Things (IoT), data centers, the government, and even aerospace.

"Intel's collaboration with Arm will expand the market opportunity for IFS and open up new options and approaches for any fabless company that wants to access best-in-class CPU IP and the power of an open system foundry with leading-edge process technology," Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said.

Intel and ARM vs. Apple, Qualcomm, and MORE

Digital Trends' report claims that it has the potential to match against smartphone processor industry giants including Apple, Qualcomm, Samsung, Google, MediaTek, and more.

SoCs are known to be massive on smartphone CPU designs, best for their small stature and the processing power it brings.

Intel's Semiconductor Development

Intel is best known for its hand in creating CPUs that have been the standard for many years now, with the company also developing graphics cards and other computer hardware. The industry has relied on Intel for a long time in powering their computers, being one of the most noticeable brands and praised for its developments over the past.

The company is also known for developing 5G hardware for computers, as well as portable ones which gave Taiwan's emergency power a device that could connect them to fast networks.

Its most famous product is the Intel Core, with the i-Series delivering significant processes and speed for computers over a long time, until the present.

Now, it partnered itself with the famed British semiconductor company, ARM, which is best known for developing SoCs, usually found on smartphones and computers that deliver small but powerful devices. ARM's SoCs are proven in the market, and with Intel's technologies and capabilities, it will soon deliver a match against the likes of Apple, Qualcomm, Google, Samsung, and more for the smartphone industry.
