If this is true, then the new mixed-reality operating system could be introduced around June 5 or June 9.

However, rumors stated that Apple might be introducing an xrOS developer kit instead of the software's final version.

Apple will allegedly debut this new software together with its most-awaited Apple AR/VR headset.

In 2022, Mark Gurman claimed that the xrOS was originally called "realityOS."

Apple allegedly decided to use the name xrOS, which stands for "extended reality" operating system, since the gadget maker wants to cover both virtual and augmented reality.

xrOS Features, Other Details

Toms's Guide reported that the upcoming xrOS could have an interface similar to iOS.

Gurman claimed that this new mixed-reality operating system will have a main interface that is completely identical to iPhone and iPad.

This means that the new AR/VR operating system could have mixed-reality versions of Safari, Calendar, Maps, Messaging, Music, and other iPhone apps.

The alleged iOS-like interface of the xrOS will greatly help users since consumers are already familiar with the iPhone operating system.

Meanwhile, the xrOS platform is expected to take advantage of the Apple AR/VR headset's unique hardware.
