The new white iPhone 4 was displayed at the Apple store on April 28, 2011, in Palo Alto, California. The long-awaited white iPhone, first announced in June of 2010, went on sale worldwide for the first time today.

For those who are not familiar with this technology, Touch ID is Aple's biometric fingerprint recognition system. It was used to verify Apple Pay payments, as well as to support device passcodes and in-app passwords.

However, Apple decided to halt the integration of Touch ID in 2017; with the iPhone X as the last device receiving it. But, with the new Samsung OLED display, there's a high chance that Apple could start offering Touch ID once again.

In this photo illustration, a virtual friend is seen on the screen of an iPhone on April 30, 2020, in Arlington, Virginia. - "It's so good to hear your voice." "I was worried about you." "What would you like to do today?" This might sound like ordinary banter between friends. But in these cases, the "friend" speaking was a chatbot created with artificial intelligence.

Tech experts believe that this screen tech could pave the way for the return iPhone's Touch ID. Engadget reported that the advanced OLED display innovation of Samsung can read fingerprints anywhere on the screen.

This is different compared to the conventional designs of other smartphones; the fingerprint sensors are attached under panels as separate modules.

This setup limits the capability of the fingerprint sensors since they'll only work within a small designated area.

Now, Samsung wants to change this by using the new Sensor OLED, which has the fingerprint sensor embedded into the panel itself.

New Samsung OLED Display's Details

Samsung's new OLED display technology is unlike other conventional fingerprint sensor approaches. This is because Samsung decided to integrate the light-sensing organic photodiode (OPD) directly within the panel structure.

When it comes to function, the new Samsung OLED tech can measure a person's heart, stress level, and blood pressure with a touch of two fingers.

Samsung said that this is its first-panel technology that can read fingerprints and biometric information simultaneously.

With this capability, the OLED display can provide more accurate health information than existing smartwatches and other wearable devices.
