A new medical tool wearable is here to bring you answers and diagnoses to unexplained feelings or conditions that doctors may miss or not find during consultations with the device called STAT. This new wearable is an in-ear device that users need to place on a location above one's ear canal, meaning that they can still go on their day and use audio and music devices alongside this.

The device will help determine the cause or roots of one's symptoms, especially for those who always feel light-headed, are affected by long COVID, and have other underlying conditions yet to be discovered.

According to a press release from the company called STAT Health, a new wearable is on its way to revolutionize learning more about unknown conditions for humans. This is through the "STAT" in-ear wearable that will analyze a person's Cerebral Blood Flow (CBF) which is difficult to measure using traditional methods.

The new wearable uses optical sensors to determine and measure a person's CBF, a novel way that moves away from ultrasound and taps found in a shallow ear artery.

"Cerebral Blood Flow (CBF) is the critical missing vital sign - poor CBF is the cause of common orthostatic symptoms such as dizziness and brain fog," said Peter Rowe, M.D. of Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Rowe further said that measuring CBF is challenging.

However, this is changed by STAT, as it also helps in avoiding the disruptions caused by measuring the blood flow via the arms with its motion.

"It's well understood that the ear is a biometric gold mine because of its close proximity to the brain and major arteries. This allows for new biometrics such as Blood Flow to Head and Blood Pressure Trend* to be possible," said Daniel Lee, co-founder, and CEO of STAT Health.

According to CNET, this medical tool may help in learning more about underlying conditions that may be hard to find, and soon explain unknown symptoms that have already manifested to patients.

Medical Wearables are Dominating Health Tech

Wearables in the tech industry have already proven themselves to be helpful in different applications that are not only restricted to lifestyle and entertainment needs. The likes of smart wearables like the Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Google's Fitbit, and more have been significant aids to health tracking in the past years, and still prove to be essential tech for some.

Many forms of tech wearables are not all smartwatches, as more developers have looked into different designs and built for other health wearables that also differ in features. There was a Danish health company called T&W Engineering that partnered with Rigshospitalet and Aarhus University to bring a pair of ear-EEG headphones that can detect if the person has Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease.

Health tech is booming in today's age and the goal is to bring more devices that can help humans either learn more about their conditions or help them in their everyday lives. With STAT, more information would be available to the public via the wearable that would determine more of the underlying conditions that remain to be discovered.
