On the first day of the "Mortal Kombat 1" (MK1) online stress test, leakers and players of the latest installment to NetherRealm's famed arcade fighting game may have figured out who the main villain is.
MK1 is set to reboot the franchise with an entirely new story that centers on a new baddie to plague the upcoming game.
Who Is Mortal Kombat 1's New Villain?
Leakers have recently flooded social media platforms, revealing the new villain coming to "Mortal Kombat 1." They believed it would be Onaga, a familiar name from the franchise.
Even MK1 players who saw some game teasers also believed that the main villain, who the players will eventually have to fight, is none other than Onaga.
Gamers have reportedly found a reference to him in the stress test. When two Fire God Liu Kang characters go up against each other, one asks the other about their timeline and if Onaga exists in it. The other Fire God Liu Kang answers: "Exists in it? He rules it."
Onaga is best known to be the Dragon King, ruler of the Outerworlds, and one of the most formidable foes in the game series. According to the leakers, Onaga would be the final boss to fight when the game ends, providing a massive challenge to both old and new gamers, particularly to those who have faced him before.
Onaga first appeared in 2004's "Mortal Kombat: Deception" as its final boss to defeat before clearing the game. Based on various reviews, the villain proved to be one of the most challenging adversaries in the series.

Mortal Kombat 1's Stress Test
Warner and NetherRealm held the online stress test for "Mortal Kombat 1" on Friday, giving gamers a glimpse of what to expect in this revamp of the franchise. Its goal is to test the company's servers and strain them so that they may find the issues now rather than on the beta test or launch.
The MK1 stress test proved to be more than what it brings as it gave various information on what to expect from it, particularly on experiencing the upcoming game firsthand. However, stress test codes are not available for everyone and are limited to selected testers only.
'Mortal Kombat 1'
Many people thought the next Mortal Kombat game would follow the main franchise's release numbers, best known for including it in its titles like the last one, "Mortal Kombat 11."
Even one of the execs of Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed that the long-awaited fighter game, "Mortal Kombat 12," is coming out this 2023.
Earlier this year, it was confirmed that NetherRealm and WB Games are turning over a new leaf for the franchise as they aim to revamp it with the release of "Mortal Kombat 1." Leaks about the game previously centered on the possibility of two renowned personalities joining the game - Megan Fox and Travis Scott.
"Mortal Kombat 1" is coming out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 19, with a new roster to play, including the leaked villain, Onaga, to bring brutal matches to fans.
