As actors and writers go on strike over the "existential threat" of AI, Netflix is paying up to $900,000 for a job in the film business that focuses on AI.

Product manager for machine learning platforms is the title of the position, and the advertised remuneration ranges from $300,000 to $900,000.

In addition, Netflix is paying up to $650,000 for a technical director position at their games studio for generative AI.

Purposes for AI

Netflix intends to use AI for a number of business processes, such as content production and acquisition as well as the customization of user and content suggestions.

According to Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, the head negotiator for the actors union, the emergence of AI-powered technology is the primary cause of the strike by actors since it poses an "existential threat" to their livelihoods.

Failed Compromising

Due to the absence of a new contract addressing AI restrictions, the national board of the union quit earlier this month. Members claimed that studios paid background actors a day fee in return for their scans for the construction of computerized likenesses.

For background performers, the SAG-AFTRA contract specifies a day fee of $200.

Since May, writers from the Writers Guild of America have been on strike, protesting the invasion of AI in the entertainment sector.

They worry that mounting financial constraints might encourage excessive AI usage in content production, thereby reducing the importance of human innovation.

Netflix continues to be unsure of how it would respond to the actors' strike and AI-driven expansion, citing the delicate nature of the issue and strategic considerations as its key priorities.

Actions Amid Protests

By providing individualized content suggestions, immersive experiences, and cutting-edge content development techniques, Netflix's AI-driven strategy has the potential to completely transform the entertainment business.

Netflix intends to expedite ideation, develop lifelike digital characters, and improve production procedures by utilizing machine learning and AI algorithms.

A significant difficulty is striking the correct balance between the use of AI and human innovation. The future of the business depends on finding a good balance between artificial intelligence and the creative vision of performers and authors.
