Twitch has announced it will no longer allow live streams of gambling-related content. In accordance with its new gambling policy, the business will now ban streaming from the online casinos Blaze and Gamdom in addition to the four sites prohibited in October 2022.

The Amazon-owned live-streaming service made the decision in response to last year's platform crisis, which emerged after a streamer was charged with defrauding users and content producers of thousands of dollars to fund a gambling habit. As a result, big-name broadcasters expressed outrage about Twitch's loose regulations on the streaming of gambling content, according to AP News.

Answering The Calls Against Gambling

In response to the rising calls, Twitch committed to banning websites that provide slots, roulette, or dice games without the required authorization and consumer protection. Eventually, platform users have discovered methods to access Blaze and Gamdom online casinos, even though unavailable in the United States, by utilizing virtual private networks.

After the implementation of Twitch's new regulation last year, gambling viewership decreased by almost 75 percent. The action was taken in an attempt to protect the community and combat predatory activity. Moreover, to improve user safety, Twitch modified its anti-gambling policy in light of the new patterns it has seen.

To combat fraud and possible hazards linked with dubious gambling platforms, Twitch will also prohibit sharing of links or referral codes to websites offering slots, roulette, or dice games under the new limitations. However, the platform will keep allowing websites dedicated to poker, fantasy sports, and sports betting.

Hamster Race Betting Becomes a Hit Despite Twitch Gambling Ban

Despite the platform's attempts to control gambling material, the Twitch community recently noted a strange trend known as "hamster race betting." The sudden emergence of endearing but divisive rodent racing contests has perplexed spectators. The "hamsters gg" Twitch channel, which broadcasts hamster races live and lets viewers wager using cryptocurrency, has emerged as the focal point of this strange phenomenon.

Both animal enthusiasts and casual watchers have had conflicting views on the emergence of this unusual betting sport. Some people have voiced concerns about the morality of hamster race betting and raised issues about the care of the racing hamsters, including @RealJonahBlake, per Sportskeeda. But the "hamstersgg" Twitch channel still draws tens of thousands of viewers throughout its live races, making these little hamsters unexpected streaming attractions.

During its live races, the "hamstersgg" Twitch channel acquired a sizable audience and swiftly rose to prominence, per First Sportz. The concept was straightforward: spectators could wager on hamsters competing in the races, simulating wagering on horse races, but on a smaller and cuter scale.
