Guilty Gear Strive has just announced the addition of Johnny as part of its new update. The announcement comes with the character's special moves as well as new mechanics through the new update.

Guilty Gear Strive New Characters Announced at the Evo 2023 Event by Arc Systems Works

According to Event Hubs, just before the top 6 finals of the popular Guilty Gear Strive at the Evo 2023, the stage was taken by Arc Systems Works which made some major announcements. The announcement included a new character as part of its first DLC character.

It was also noted that Johnny would become the first ever DLC character of GGST's season 3. This comes as they showed off some of his brand-new moves as well as some mechanics that players will get to experience in the game.

Johnny Comes with New Moves Including the Use of His Favorite Deck, Which Becomes Part of His Attacks

The article announced how Johnny was one of the most requested characters and he even brought what was described as his favorite deck in order to play with. The character can be seen throwing cards either in the air or on the ground, which comes as part of his technique.

When Johnny throws his cards, he can reportedly slash after setting them up to align with his very own sword and dashing moves. The cards add an interesting addition to his fighting style, giving him a unique attack.

New Characters are to be added to the Guilty Gear Strive as Part of the New Season Update

It was noted that at the start of the new season, players would also get new characters including May, Ramlethal, Faust, Anji, as well as two other names. They will reportedly come with new special moves while the remaining cast will get new attacks as well as future updates.

The first new universal mechanic that was revealed was the Wild Assault, which revealed that it looks to be a fast dash attack that comes with a quarter circle forward as well as a Dust for just half of the player's Tension Gauge. The Game Also Introduces New Mechanics for Players to Try Out

Another mechanic was the Deflect Shield which is capable of blocking any possible incoming attack despite being overheads, lows, or even projectile. This move would reportedly cost players half of their Burst Gauge.

Guilty Gear Strive's season 3 update will launch on August 24 with the addition of Johnny as well as balance and system updates all packed at once. The new Strive Season 3 will be coming with four new characters with the second batch coming this year while the latch two characters will launch in 2024.

It was noted that Season Pass 3 will get the new fighters in two stages with three fighter colors as well as an extra 13 to 15 colors for the entire cast. The new characters were announced during the EVO 2023 event.
