Qualcomm has long been known as a manufacturer of Snapdragon chips for mobile devices and now, the company is planning to produce chips for handheld gaming consoles as well. This comes with the introduction of the G-series, which is specifically designed for handheld gaming.

Snapdragon G-Series Comes with Different Chips Designed for Portable Consoles Starting with the G1 Gen 1

According to the story by GSM Arena, the G-series is a three-tier chipset designed by Qualcomm specifically for portable gaming consoles. For example, the Snapdragon G1 Gen 1 claims over 10 hours of battery life, 60 fps, and more gaming-related specs.

Some of the expected specs include the Kyro CPU, which has eight cores, and the Adreno A11 GPU among other specs. Some of the additions include Wi-Fi 5 connectivity as well as Bluetooth 5.0 connection.

Snapdragon Chips Come with CPU and GPU Abilities Enough for Higher FPS Performance

Another chip would be the Snapdragon G2 Gen 1 is designed to be slightly more powerful and is built for mobile and cloud gaming. While it packs the same CPU, it upgrades its GPU to the Adreno A21. It also has better connectivity through Wi-Fi 6/6E as well as 5G.

The chip packs the Snapdragon X62 5G modem, giving it extended abilities. It also supports better gaming-related specs like 144 fps and FHD+ display.

Last Two Chips Include the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 and Gen 2 with Upgraded CPU and GPU

The next chip included in the bunch includes the Snapdragon G3x Gen1, which is already being used in the Razer Edge 5G, which gets an update. Another addition to the console would be that it comes with a 30% more powerful eight-core Kryo CPU.

As for its GPU, the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 will be packing the Adreno A32 which comes with many bold promises. One of which is that the chip would be able to offer 2x the performance of the previous versions.

Last Chip Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 Comes with Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Capabilities

The last chip noted in the article was the Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 which comes with additional abilities like the high-tech ray tracing abilities. With regards to the connection included in the chip, the last addition in the series includes Wi-Fi 7 and 5G.

As per its display, the chip comes with FHD+ and can handle 144 fps. Another important ability of this chip is that Qualcomm ensures it has support for PCIe Gen 4 SSD and stereo haptics.

Qualcomm Chip G Series is Expected to be Used by Other Gaming Companies

So far, Qualcomm has already partnered with different companies with regards to the handheld devices. This could mean that these businesses would be packing the Snapdragon G-series chips sometime in the future.

Some of these companies include AyaNeo, Inventec, Huaqin, and Thundercomm among others. Snapdragon has also officially released a video on YouTube showing what users would be getting with the upcoming Snapdragon G series.

Fans just have to wait and see what particular handheld consoles would be using the Snapdragon G-series chips.
