Much more than a scale—a connected health station. Meet Body Scan, our most advanced smart scale ever conceived, enabling the monitoring of key health vitals from home.

Withings Body Scan Connected Health Station Receives Approval From the FDA

Receiving a green light from the FDA, Engadget reported that the launch of the Withings Body Scan Connected Health Station will take place this fall.

With an initial price of $300 set by Withings, the scale embarked on a journey marked with unforeseen challenges. Caught within the labyrinthine realm of FDA approvals, the scale's price experienced a subsequent increase.

When considering its worth, the scale stands out as a powerhouse. It is the first FDA-approved health station that uses a six-lead ECG to detect atrial fibrillation.

Beyond this groundbreaking feature, the scale showcases a multifaceted prowess. It thoroughly analyzes your segmented body composition, measures nerve activity, and tracks your vascular age.

Moreover, using Galvanic Skin Response (GSR), it can monitor levels of foot sweat for signs of neuropathy. In the world of health metrics, the landscape is becoming increasingly populated with devices boasting diverse capabilities.

TechRadar highlighted the surge of innovative wearables, spanning a wide spectrum from stress levels to heart rate readings.

Withings Body Scan Device

Making its debut at the renowned CES 2022 event, the Withings Body Scan device revolutionizes weight measurement. This state-of-the-art scale directly integrates sophisticated sensors into its platform, accompanied by a unique tethered bar positioned at its upper edge.

The Body Scan's capabilities extend beyond conventional measurements, encompassing aspects like "segmented body composition" and sweat gland activity monitoring.

Utilizing a "safe" electrical sensor, the Body Scan swiftly communicates with the user's hands or the pad beneath their feet, enabling it to instantly read things like impedance.

This pivotal measurement empowers the device to provide users with insightful information about their body's current conditions or what is happening with their body.

The device can monitor subtle nerve responses by gauging sweat gland activity in the feet, ultimately generating a Sudomotor reading for users.

The comprehensive array of sensors also encompasses traditional biometric data, encompassing heart rate measurements, six-lead ECG recordings designed to detect arrhythmia, and even a measurement to determine one's vascular age.

According to Withings, the Body Scan consists of a tempered glass platform with an integrated retractable handle. The device has 14 ITP electrodes on the scale, four weight sensors, and four stainless steel electrodes in the handle.

Withings said the device's display is a 3.2-inch color LCD for viewing the metrics. The company has also launched the Withings App on iOS or Android, wherein users can connect their devices to get more information about their health.

The battery of the Body Scan will reportedly last 12 months before needing a recharge. Withings further noted that the scale measures Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), and its weight measurements are precise down to 0.1 lbs.

According to reports, the Withings Body Scan will be available this September, and consumers can buy it for $400.
